The Mustang high offset shock tower brace kit is simple in design yet very effective, and offers additional clearance for air cleaners or other space requirements. Triangulating the shock towers to the firewall with rigid mounts give unsurpassed strength compared to other brands.

Our design mimics the original style used on the Shelby cars, but with reduced weight and clean lines. The original component was made from solid steel with beads rolled in for additional strength. Notice what it doesn’t have: pivots. We believe stiffening components should have solid junctions rather than pivots which allow the body to flex. The Mustang shock tower brace kit mounts to the existing bolt patterns on both the shock towers and firewall, no drilling required.

This is an effective solution for tightening up the front end of the car. Tie these in with a set of our subframe connectors and an X-Brace (or just order the complete kit) and you’ll have a much stiffer and more modern chassis.

We also offer a standard shock tower brace for traditional installs, and an EFI shock tower brace designed to clear most EFI systems.

Our chassis stiffening kit is designed to help improve the handling and consistency of your classic Mustang.

The original Mustangs utilized a unibody construction. Rather than relying on full length frame rails as you might see under many other cars of the era, the Mustang relied on the floor pan and other body structures to connect frame rails located at the front and back of the car. Originally this reduced weight and cost, but time and questionable repairs often leave the Mustang with less than desirable chassis strength.

Chassis stiffness is important for two primary reasons:

  1. It improves torsional rigidity, aka the resistance to twisting. Keeping the car flat through corners or when under stress is essential for a repeatable feel and quicker times.
  2. It allows the suspension to do its job. If the car is twisting and bending (even over small bumps in the road) the chassis isn’t supporting the suspension, it becomes part of the suspension. Stiffening the chassis creates a repeatable and confident feel by allowing the suspension to work and do its job of handling the bumps.

This kit includes

  1. MOD Subframe connectors – designed to connect the front and rear frame rails, these solid connectors weld on in more than two locations, exponentially improving their effectiveness. They also serve as handy jacking points to prevent further damage to the frame rails.
  2. MOD X-Brace – Our X-Brace ties the subframe connectors together, further improving stiffness. We designed the X-Brace to be removable for servicing of exhaust and other under car pieces.
  3. MOD Shock Tower Brace – The Mustang shock tower brace kit is simple in design yet very effective. Triangulating the shock towers to the firewall with rigid mounts give unsurpassed strength compared to other brands.

The Mustang MOD X-brace assembly is another component designed to bring your classic Mustang up to par with more current chassis designs. Adding the MOD X-Brace helps prevent torsional twisting of the chassis. Those of you who are looking for all you can get from your Mustang should definitely add this to the list.

For convertible applications it ties the center of the convertible seat torque boxes to the outer four corners of the chassis with a unique triangulated design. Using the four outer torque boxes combined with the center torque boxes gives unsurpassed strength.

This listing is for the X-Brace ONLY. This requires the installation of our subframe connectors as well. If ordered as a package, your subframe connectors will come with the X-Brace tabs already welded on unless otherwise requested.

Simply put, these MOD subframe connectors are the best on the market. Built to withstand the punishment of racing while maintaining road manners and improved handling on and off the track, the MOD subframe connectors will greatly enhance the ride and performance of your 64-70 Mustang.

Made from 2″ .120 wall round steel tubing (1.75″ for convertible), these 75″ connectors are longer than just about anything else available. Why? With subframe connectors, the goal is to grab as much chassis as possible to minimize flex and fatigue. These longer connectors weld to the body and frame in four locations, preventing them from pivoting on only two points. This significantly reduces the flex found in early unibody Mustangs and stiffens the chassis overall, allowing the suspension to do the work. They closely contour to the floor of your Mustang to prevent any ground clearance issues.

These are only available as a weld in option. We have found that bolt in subframes pull at the thin metal underneath the car and aren’t nearly as effective as a true weld in solution. This also allows the subframe connectors to serve as future jacking points, preventing further damage to your frame rails or floor pan.
