Description
The crew at Mike Maier Inc has come up with a great Mustang MOD Power Steering Kit for your first generation Mustang. This kit will increase the predictability and control of your car, simplify future part replacement, prevent power steering fluid from being blown on your engine, maintain proper steering geometry, and increase the enjoyment of your driving experience.
This steering system was pieced together over the years from sheer necessity. The days of our old pony jumping lanes without notice had to come to an end. Showing up to an autocross and running the car to its limits only to open the hood and find power steering fluid evenly coated over the right side of the motor also had to end. It was time to fix these issues and move on. The car jumping from lane to lane is usually the result of a worn out control valve, among other worn and original parts. Most newer power steering systems no longer use the old style control valves which provides a much better, on-center steering feel. Over the years, power steering pumps have improved by leaps and bounds. The days of blowing oil all over the engine bay are gone. We replace the old pumps with a high-quality KRC Power Steering pump, the likes of which can be found in everything from hot rods to race cars.
So why not go with a typical rack-and-pinion type setup so common these days? It all has to do with steering geometry, or the math behind why your car feels twitchy and unpredictable instead of solid and confidence inspiring. Unfortunately, feel often takes a backseat to packaging constraints (and consumers who say “I want that” without really being sure why). What everyone seems to be missing is that most rack and pinion systems actually make the original steering geometry worse.
This kit is designed to be configured with a stock manual steering centerlink & idler arm. For 1964.5-1966 applications manual steering tie rods are also required.

Easy install! Everything is included that you need, except fluid and a belt! One of the best upgrades you can make to your Mustang in my opinion!

Perfect. I called Maier Inc. to initially ask a couple questions. Brianne was able to answer all my questions, so i ordered my power steering kit. Within a couple days it was delivered. The steering box went in without a hitch. I called back to ask one question and Mike picked up and he helped me out even more. He even answered some other questions i had about my mustang. I can’t say how grateful i am that someone with his vast knowledge took a few minutes out of his day to help me out. If you want a quality product and amazing customer service then this is the place to come. My car will be on the road soon and i hope i can post pictures of how it all looks in my car. @ford356outlaw

It’s like night & day! No more cranking on the steering wheel to get in & out of those tight spots. The classic mustangs engine bay is already cramped so I’d recommend investing in a KRC power steering cooler as well for added piece of mind. If your lacking the physical strength to maneuver your ride and tired of wrenching the wheel look no further. This upgrade is a must have!

Changed my factory power steering system for this system and it is so much better. The car feels great at highway speeds and very comfortable in parking lots. Im very happy with the system and highly recommend it.
